Public Transit Study Overview

In 2008, The Clinton County Economic Collaborative (CCEC) began work on a two-part transportation study aimed at assessing employer and employee needs and perceptions of area public transit.  The Development Corporation (TDC) provided funding and staff for the project and also entered into a contractual agreement with the Technical Assistance Center (TAC) at SUNY Plattsburgh to conduct two separate surveys and report their findings to the CCEC.

Phase I of the survey focused on larger employers in the area and their awareness/perceptions/attitudes towards public transit as well as their willingness to offer employees incentives for using public transit.  Phase II of the survey focused on employee perceptions of the existing public transit system and gathered opinions on how such systems might be modified to benefit their personal transportation needs including, but not limited to, the use of park and rides.

Both surveys and reports are now compete and available below.  It is hoped that the results will help CCEC in our efforts to highlight cost effective transportation alternatives for area residents, businesses and employees. CCEC has worked closely with Maggie Barie, Planning Technician for the Clinton County Public Transit (CCPT) in order to accomplish these goals.  In addition, The CCEC, in conjunction with CCPT, will research grant opportunities to further study and assess the current public transit system and its routes.
